Education Programme

Open Philharmonic

Concerts in the square, Open rehearsals, educational projects, scholarships,
records: there are many initiatives to enhance and share the musical heritage of Filarmonica della Scala involving non-profit associations, children, schools and citizens directly. An advanced model of interaction with partners, the territory and public institutions aimed at developing musical culture for an increasingly wide audience.

Sound Music!

Children are the protagonists of Sound, Music!, the educational project on symphonic music dedicated to young children that celebrates eleven years this year.

An articulated program with in-depth activities, outside and inside the classroom, off line and on line, allows Milan's elementary school students to learn, while having fun, about the repertoire of the great masterpieces, before participating in the concluding concert-show: a thematic multidisciplinary journey, through famous pieces of the symphonic repertoire, in which they learn from and with music.

Scholarships

Filarmonica della Scala supports young and talented musicians at the beginning of their career with the "Maura Giorgetti" Scholarships. The annual call for applications was established in 2012 on the occasion of the Philharmonic's 30th anniversary, and will celebrate 10 years in 2022. The prize is designed to support the most deserving musicians in a particularly delicate phase of their studies. Many of the winners of past editions are on their way to important professional careers.

Open rehearsals

Followed by an increasingly loyal audience that over the years has decreed its success, Open rehearsals has passed the ten-year mark with more than one million euros raised and donated to development and social promotion: a project that represents an important support to the non-profit world in Milan and allows all fans greater access to Teatro alla Scala. This is all thanks to the participation of the orchestra's musicians, guest conductors and soloists, as well as the fundamental support of UniCredit Foundation, which identifies the area of intervention, evaluates the projects of non-profit organisations and guarantees coverage of organisational costs.
