BIOGRAPHY

Born in Viterbo, after completing his classical studies he studied singing with baritone Sesto Bruscantini. At 21 he made his debut in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Carlo Felice in Genoa, a role he later reprised at the Metropolitan, La Scala, Arena di Verona, Tokyo, San Francisco, Dallas, Hamburg, Toulouse, Paris (Champs Elysées), Tel Aviv, and Lima. His repertoire includes, among others, Falstaff in Turin, Seattle, Madrid; La forza del destino (Frà Melitone) at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and in San Francisco, Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Marseilles, Athens; Shabran's Matilde at London's Covent Garden; Così fan tutte in Glyndebourne, Monte Carlo, Verona, Houston; Rossini's L' Occasione fa il ladro (Martino) in Oman with the ROF in Pesaro; Tosca (Sagrestano) in Valencia and at Teatro alla Scala in Milan (and on tour in Japan) conducted by Riccardo Chailly for the opening of the 2019/20 opera season with direction by Davide Livermore.
He has worked with leading conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti, Bruno Campanella, and Zubin Mehta; and directors such as Dario Fo, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Giancarlo Cobelli, Gabriele Lavia, and Arturo Cirillo.
In 2008 he combined his singing career with that of opera director, signing productions such as Il barbiere di Siviglia and Gianni Schicchi in Astana and at the Tuscia Opera Festival; La traviata in Cagliari, at Otzu Nikikai Opera Foundation in Japan and in Bologna; Le nozze di Figaro at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires; Roberto Devereux with Mariella Devia at Carlo Felice in Genoa and in Parma; Anna Bolena at Regio in Parma; and Aida and Maria Stuarda at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
