BIOGRAPHY

Conductor One of the most promising conductors of his generation, Tugan Sokhiev was appointed Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in 2005 and Music Advisor of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in 2008 at Conductor . From the 2012-13 season he will also take on the role of Music Conductor of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester in Berlin. In 2009 he made his triumphant debut conducting the Vienna Philharmonic, and recently with the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Rotterdam Philharmonic.

In 2002 he made his British debut conducting La bohème at the Welsh National Opera and, shortly afterwards, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York with Evgenij Oneghin performed by the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra. His 2005 debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse was awarded the title of "Musical Revelation of the Year" by the Association of French Music Critics.

Recently he recorded, with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances.
