Bertrand Chamayou was born in Toulouse and studied at the Paris Conservatoire under pianist Jean-François Heisser, who immediately noticed his talent. He completed his training with Maria Curcio in London. Over the years, he has performed in theatres such as Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Lincoln Center, Herkulessaal in Munich and Wigmore Hall in London, as well as at prestigious international festivals.
He has worked with several orchestras, including Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, hr-Sinfonieorchester, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia and Danish National Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductors such as Boulez, Slatkin, Sir Marriner, Plasson, Denève, Krivine and Andris Nelsons.
Chamayou regularly performs chamber music concerts with artists such as Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Quatuor Ébène, Antoine Tamestit and Sol Gabetta. In 2019, he won the Gramophone Recording of the Year for his recording of Camille Saint-Saëns' Piano Concertos Nos. 2 and 5. He is the only artist to have won the prestigious Victories de la Musique award four times. In 2016, he won an ECHO Klassik for recording the complete works for piano by Ravel.
