BIOGRAPHY

Born in Bavaria to a family of pastry chefs, Christiane Karg studied singing at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the International Opera Studio in Hamburg before joining the Frankfurt Opera ensemble. In 2018 she received the "Brahms Prize."

She is praised for her interpretations of Mélisande, Blanche, Pamina, Susanna, Fiordiligi, Contessa, Sophie, Zdenka, and Micaëla, among others, and works with conductors such as Harnoncourt, Harding, Nézet-Séguin, Mariss Jansons, and Thielemann.

In the 2022/23 season Christiane reprised the role of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Paris Opera and made her debut as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus in Graz.

Recent concert successes include a tour with Leif Ove Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, which included a debut at the BBC Proms, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with Andris Nelsonse the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Ravel's Shéhérazade with Jonathan Nott and the Orchester de la Suisse Romande, a tour with Symphony No. 4 by Mahler and concert performances of Wagner's Das Rheingold with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest and selected pieces from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn with Ivor Bolton and the Sinfonieorchester Basel. This season includes Ein deutches Requiem by Brahms with Christoph Eschenbache the Wiener Symphoniker, Haydn's Creation with Antonini and the Bamberger Symphoniker, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with Andris Nelsons and Gewandhaus Leipzig, Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri with Daniel Harding and the Czech Philharmonic, Symphony No. 4 by Mahler with the Münchner Philharmoniker under the baton of Krzysztof Urbański and also with Tugan Sokhiev, Teodor Currentzise Concertgebouworkest, David Afkham and Filarmonica della Scala in Copenhagen, a tour of Mozart arias with the B'Rock Orchestra conducted by René Jacobs.

A sought-after chamber music performer, she has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Edinburgh International Festival and is a regular guest at Schwarzenberg Schubertiade, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Musikverein in Vienna and Wigmore Hall in London.

He gets numerous awards for his recordings and received the Diapason d'Or, Choc de Classica, Gramophone Editor's Choice and BBC Music Choice for his solo recital disc "Erinnerung" with Lieder by Gustav Mahler in 2020. His last solo disc "Licht der Welt" was released in 2021.
