In 2023 Myung-Whun Chung welcomed the appointment as Conductor Emeritus of the Filarmonica, after 35 years of intense artistic collaboration. "From the beginning, the meeting with Filarmonica della Scala was almost magical. From the very beginning the orchestra not only understood what was in my head, but also what was in my heart," these are the words of the Korean Maestro who chooses a youthful Schubert for this program and tackles the music of Bruckner for the first time with Filarmonica della Scala . The choice not surprisingly falls on the Sixth, overshadowing the grandeur of other works for the more intimate dimension or, as the composer himself called it, "the most sincere."
