After a long period in the United States, both Antonín Dvořák and Sergei Prokof'ev feel the need to return to their homeland. In Prague, Dvořák wrote the Cello Concerto No. 2: rediscovering his roots, he created one of the greatest masterpieces for this instrument, the music of his people not an object of study but the living matter of the culture around him. While working on Romeo and Juliet Prokof'ev knew he had to return to Russia to find inspiration again. "Prokof'ev's music is creator and soul of dance," as Galina Ulanova, the Juliet of the first performance in Leningrad, said. After Symphonies No. 1, No. 3 and No. 7, Riccardo Chailly continues the journey through the composer's work and composes his own suite from the Ballet.
