Milan - Teatro alla Scala

Reading Myung-Whun Chung's name next to those of Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky makes us imagine even now the intensity of this concerto. We can almost hear the mysterious initial crescendo of piano, which vents into a string melody so dense we can lean into it. It falls to Mao Fujita to perform Rachmaninov's most romantic Concerto for piano , having performed the dreaded Third in his La Scala debut in 2022. Myung-Whun Chung will know how to approach the Pathetique with the spontaneity that distinguishes his music-making, with his ability to stand in the emotions, and to invite us to follow him.
