Celebrating Sunday 12 June at 9.30 p.m. is Concerto per Milano, the great free and open-air event that Filarmonica della Scala traditionally holds in the Piazza del Duomo packed with spectators.
On the orchestra podium is Riccardo Chailly engaged in a programme of great vitality and energy, starting with a foray into the atmospheres of Spanish music, with pieces by Manuel de Falla and Maurice Ravel, to a tribute to George Gershwin, with the famous notes of An American in Paris and the Catfish row suite from Porgy and Bess.
The concert opens with the premiere of Decisamente allegro, the new piece commissioned from composer Nicola Campogrande on the occasion of the orchestra's 40th anniversary.
