The Filarmonica della Scala he is the protagonist of an extraordinary concert on the occasion of the celebrations for the 160th anniversary of the foundation of the Italian Red Cross and the Society of the Quartet of Milan.
Saturday, May 4 at Teatro alla Scala Filarmonica della Scala is conducted by Zubin Mehta and flanked by violinist Maxim Vengerov. At the beginning and at the end of the program we find two Beethoven masterpieces – and it could not be otherwise, since it is at the Quartet that Beethoven's symphonic adventure begins in Italy, with the completion of the first complete cycle of his symphonies in 1878 – such as the Leonore Overture No. 3 in C major op. 72b and Symphony No. 7 in A major op. 92. At the centre is the virtuosic and passionate Concerto for violin and orchestra in E minor op. 64 by Mendelssohn.
The proceeds from the ticket office will be donated, by each institution, to two separate charitable initiatives: in the case of the Italian Red Cross, to the CRI4Kids project through which the Milan Committee of the CRI provides support to families with young children, through the supply of products and food for children; in the case of the Società del Quartetto di Milano, after the great success of the 2022-2023 season, a new edition of Quartetto Diffuso, the streaming music festival that will allow the public in hospitals, nursing homes and prisoners to enjoy, live or deferred, the most beautiful concerts of the season.
Tickets, with differentiated prices depending on the location of the seat on the floor and the availability of each spectator – ranging from 15 to 240 euros – are on sale in the Aragorn-Vivaticket circuit from 4 March 2024.
