Sunday 20 March Open rehearsal for Peace in Ukraine

It is an extraordinaryOpen rehearsal that the Filarmonica della Scala dedicated on Sunday 20 March, at 6.30 p.m., to peace in Ukraine. Thanks to the contribution of Main Partner UniCredit, the entire proceeds of the evening at Teatro alla Scala will be donated toUNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, engaged in the field to protect and assist hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians forced to abandon their homes in search of safety, protection and assistance.
On the Piermarini podium, Maestro Fabio Luisi will lead the musicians in a performance of Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 in C minor. After having chosen the Seventh in 2019 and the Second in February 2020, on the occasion of the last concert before the lock-down, Luisi resumes with this Symphony - the Austrian composer's largest and most ambitious - his journey into Bruckner's music. The rehearsal precedes the season-long concert on Monday 21 March at 8pm; tickets are available on the Philharmonic's website and on vivaticket.

Since the beginning of the conflict, more than 1.7 million people have already fled Ukraine and hundreds of thousands have been internally displaced. At this rate, the situation is set to become the biggest refugee crisis in Europe this century. This is why, despite the grave danger, UNHCR is present in Ukraine and all neighbouring countries. The Agency is working with the local authorities to secure aid and is also stepping up the urgent dispatch of resources, personnel and emergency aid for use in the region. At the same time, it is preparing to provide assistance to women, children and those in need.

Thanks to the availability of guest musicians, conductors and soloists, Open rehearsalsdella Filarmonica della Scala has for over a decade represented a unique opportunity to attend some of the season's concerts at low prices and previews and, above all, a concrete opportunity to support various socially useful projects in Milan.
It is therefore through this formula that combines great music and solidarity that Filarmonica della Scalahas chosen to express its closeness to the Ukrainian people and to contribute to concretely support those fleeing the conflict. In addition to buying here tickets to attend the concert to be held the following day, the public will be able to choose to donate directly an additional liberal contribution in support of UNHCR and its work in Ukraine.
